Strategic Blueprint
As a pioneer, leader, and influencer in future education, Xi’an Jiaotong-红杏视频 University (XJTLU) has established a comprehensive educational ecosystem and development blueprint through in-depth research, continuous exploration, and innovative practices since its establishment.

Based on XJTLU’s vision, mission, and educational philosophy, and leveraging its limited resources and extensive global network, three future-oriented talent cultivation models* (Education Models 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0) were implemented.
On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, XJTLU launched its 4.0 Model. By combining the flexibility of American education, the quality assurance system of British education, and the solid foundation of Chinese education, XJTLU has developed its unique “Five-Star” education system, highlighting its distinct characteristics of personalisation, interest-driven learning, lifelong learning, syntegrative education, human-machine symbiosis (ecosystem), internationalisation, and globalisation.
As it continues to deepen and enhance its educational models, XJTLU consistently improves and upgrades its higher education innovation solutions. Meanwhile, XJTLU continues its exploration of basic education and new professional education in the digitalisation and AI era, while broadly promoting advanced educational concepts and best practices to facilitate reform in China’s educational system and influence global educational development.
To support the effective implementation of the above educational blueprint, XJTLU is accelerating the development of digital and intelligent infrastructure by establishing the XJTLU Learning Mall to realise the borderless sharing of future education concepts and resources.
Furthermore, to better fulfil the University’s role in serving society, XJTLU integrates industry, university, research, government, and society to catalyse the development of an innovative industrial ecosystem.
Through university (education), research (technology), and government (policy), XJTLU assists industry in innovative upgrading, ultimately fostering sustainable and harmonious development of society.
To this end, starting in 2023, XJTLU built the “X-Eco Mall” based on the digital platform of the XJTLU Learning Mall. The aim is to proactively respond to the digital and intelligent wave impacting various aspects of society, the economy, technology, production, and life, by establishing a digital intelligence base or supporting platform to facilitate digital transformation and industry upgrading.
Against the current backdrop of deglobalisation caused by the reshaping of the world order and social restructuring driven by AI, and foreseeing that future society will encounter severe imbalances and complex governance challenges, XJTLU officially launched its 4.0 Model on its 20th anniversary. This model will contribute to the educational strength and wisdom of XJTLU in the development of future society.
Supported by digital and intelligent technologies, XJTLU has established a flat, networked organisational structure and service system to enable seamless, efficient collaboration both within and outside the University, promoting XJTLU’s mission and its role in society.
XJTLU Talent Cultivation Models
Education Model 1.0: This model represents a transformation and upgrade of the traditional programme-based elite education approach. It embodies a student-centred and learning-focused model aimed at healthy growth, advocating personalised, interest-driven, and research-led learning while enhancing students’ understanding of industry. Its objective is to ensure that students gain a comprehensive understanding of their respective fields and future industry trends, making them truly proficient professionals.
Education Model 2.0: This syntegrative education model abandons the specialisation-oriented approach, instead combining specialised knowledge, entrepreneurial education, and leadership training through in-depth industry collaboration. It prepares future elite professionals and leaders to leverage technological platforms, AI, and robotics to spearhead the development of new lifestyles and industries. While we acknowledge that industry leaders are rarely solely cultivated through education, this model can help many elite professionals emerge naturally as leaders in a conducive environment.
Education Model 3.0: This model breaks down the barriers of the university and immerses it in society. By leveraging its relatively neutral status and forward-looking mindset, the University integrates government, industry, and other relevant social resources to form a systematic, innovative ecosystem for various industries. This approach promotes the integrated development and upgrading of education, research, and industry. Within this model, students gain access to abundant resources, limitless opportunities, and a superior environment. Through immersive learning, research, and practice, they can engage closely with society, grow rapidly, and gain support for innovation, entrepreneurship, future planning, and the realisation of their dreams.
Education Model 4.0: Directly confronting the era-defining challenges of deglobalisation and the widening gaps in social wealth and intellectual capital, this model completely dissolves the boundaries between universities and society, elevating industrial innovation ecosystems to “future-oriented lifelong learning and innovative social ecosystems”. By establishing future education experimental zones across multiple locations globally, it advances education that spans the entire human lifecycle, all scenarios and the whole of society, cultivating global citizens and future leaders capable of leading social transformation and addressing complex global governance challenges. Through the construction of educational ecosystems, it contributes the XJTLU approach to global social development and governance innovation.
