Welcome to the School of Internet of Things at Xi’an Jiaotong-红杏视频 University.
We are living through a profound technological transition. Artificial intelligence is no longer confined to software systems, online platforms, or centralised data centres. It is moving into devices, networks, factories, hospitals, cities, transportation systems, energy systems, and everyday life. Intelligence is becoming embedded in the physical world.
This transformation marks the next stage of the Internet of Things. The future of IoT is not only about connecting devices or collecting data. It is about enabling sensing, communication, computation, learning, decision-making, and action to work together within an intelligent system. In this sense, IoT is evolving into AIoT, and AIoT is further moving toward what we call the Internet of Intelligence — a future in which distributed devices, edge systems, cloud platforms, AI models, and human expertise work together to support trustworthy, adaptive, and human-centred intelligent infrastructure.
At the School of Internet of Things, our mission is to prepare students and researchers to lead this new era. We educate future engineers and innovators who can design, build, deploy, and govern AI-native intelligent systems in real-world environments. Our students not only learn how individual technologies work; they learn how sensing, networking, edge/cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and domain knowledge come together to solve complex problems.
A key part of this vision is our AIoT+X Pathways. The “X” represents real-world application domains, such as autonomous and industrial systems, smart manufacturing, healthcare, human-centred systems, digital twins, smart cities, intelligent infrastructure, and secure AIoT systems. Through these pathways, students are encouraged to think beyond a single technology and develop the system-level capability required to connect AI with the physical world.
Education at the School of IoT is deeply hands-on, project-based, and industry-connected. Through Syntegrative Education, students engage with real challenges from the early stages of their studies. They work in teams, interact with industry partners, build prototypes, test ideas, and learn how to connect technical solutions with user needs, business value, safety, trust, and social impact.
Our research follows the same direction. We are building strengths in edge and distributed intelligence, trustworthy and secure AIoT, smart sensing and embedded systems, human-centred, trustworthy, deployable, sustainable, and human-centred technologies, intelligent connectivity, digital twins, and the Internet of Intelligence. We aim to connect education, research, and industry deployment so that ideas can move from classroom learning to prototypes, from research projects to real-world systems, and from technology exploration to meaningful societal impact.
The School of Internet of Things is not only responding to technological change. We aim to help shape what comes next. Our goal is to build an academic and innovation ecosystem where students, faculty, industry partners, and public-sector collaborators work together to create intelligent systems that are not only powerful, but also trustworthy, deployable, sustainable, and human-centred.
I warmly invite you to join us in this journey – from IoT to AIoT, and from AIoT to the Internet of Intelligence.

Dean’s Message
Welcome to the School of Internet of Things at Xi’an Jiaotong-红杏视频 University.
We are entering a new era in which intelligence is moving from software into the physical world. The future of IoT is no longer only about connecting devices; it is about building AI-native, trustworthy, and human-centred intelligent infrastructure.
At the School of IoT, we call this transformation the journey from IoT to AIoT, and further to the Internet of Intelligence. Through our AIoT+X pathways, Syntegrative Education projects, interdisciplinary research, and industry collaboration, we prepare students to design, deploy, and govern intelligent systems that connect the digital and physical worlds.
We warmly welcome students, researchers, industry partners, and public-sector collaborators to join us in building the intelligent infrastructure of the future.
